On Saturday, May 28, 2011 every parent’s nightmare became far too real for the Scott family of Vanderhoof British Columbia Canada.

On Friday, May 27, 2011, 20-year-old Madison Scott went to a party at Hogsback Lake, which is a Forest Service Campsite that is located approximately 25 kilometres south of Vanderhoof. Maddison parked her white 1990 Ford F150 pick-up truck and pitched her tent nearby as she was camping there with a group of new found friends from Vanderhoof.

The group was celebrating a friendʼs birthday and at the end of the evening, Maddy was left on her own in her tent. Everyone else left the party by 4 a.m.

On May 28, 2011, something happened between 4-8:30 a.m. that led to Maddyʼs disappearance. Foul play is suspected and Maddy remains missing despite a vigorous and in-depth RCMP investigation and ongoing efforts by family and friends.

“We know someone out there knows something about the disappearance, but either won’t, or can’t tell us what happened to Maddy. We are asking any individual who has information and has not already come forward to contact the police or Crimestoppers,” stated lead investigator Cst. Tom Wamsteeker of the North District Major Crime Unit.

In support of the on-going investigative efforts, the RCMP are releasing a video that provides a previous re-enactment, private reward and information the public needs to know to help with the investigation. You can find this video below:

It’s already been over 5 years since Madison disappeared from Hogsback Lake near Vanderhoof.

“The investigation is still active and, in the words of Constable Tom Wamsteeker, there’s somebody out there who knows something and they’re just not telling us,” says North District RCMP Corporal Dave Tyreman. “Whether they can’t tell us, won’t tell us. Whether they do it anonymously, whether it’s a letter to the parents or whether they call Crimestoppers – somebody or some people know exactly what happened to Maddy.”

He says the Major Crimes unit is still pursuing information related to Maddy’s disappearance.

“In speaking with Major crimes unit, they believe this to be highly suspicious in nature and that’s why they’re involved. It’s not just somebody who wandered off. It would be nice to find some kind of information that we can further our investigation into where exactly is Madison Scott.”

Tyreman says as time passes, circumstances can change.

“Sometimes it’s a disadvantage, sometimes it can be an advantage. Maybe there’s somebody who knows something and, as years go on, they have a change in lifestyle, they’re not hanging around with the same people. Maybe they’re not at threat by somebody else in providing that information so they may come forward.”

Here is a statement from Ben Scott, on behalf of the Scott family, regarding the disappearance of his sister, Madison Scott:

My name is Ben and my sister, Madison, is a young, vibrant 24 year old woman who went missing from Hogsback Lake on May 28, 2011. Maddy has since been missing as a member of our community for 1462 days. On behalf of the family I would like to provide an update regarding our search and awareness efforts for Madison Scott.

The police continue to actively work on Maddys’ file. To date, they have completed over 1600 ‘tasks’ in an effort to solve this mystery, and these tasks are now almost complete. Accordingly, we must maintain our search and awareness efforts to generate new leads to justify the police to continue to allocate the resources to find Maddy. The Maddy posters, stickers, and signs enable us to maintain our presence and enhance awareness in the surrounding area. These signs & banners are important to maintain the awareness of who Maddy is. The signs are widespread and observed by so many people, including locals, commuters through the community, and others.

Saturday May 30, 2015 will be the 4th All In For Maddy Poker Ride, which is hosted in the Hogsback & Blackwater area where Maddy went missing. This is our team’s primary awareness campaign. The event keeps people thinking and looking for Maddy in the area that she went missing from with the ultimate goal of increasing awareness. The previous 3 years have been extremely successful, as we’ve had close to 400 participants, and we anticipate another successful turnout this year.

We would like to thank the community for all of your support and we truly are forever grateful for all that has been done to assist our search and awareness efforts. We are extremely fortunate to have had unconditional support from the community and we are optimistic that this continued support will lead to the desired answer. My sister has been missing for long 4 years, and we need to continue our search efforts to end this nightmare.

Maddy is still missing to this day. The Scott family have now been missing their loved one for over 5 years. If you have any information regarding her disappearance, please contact law enforcement right away, you can find the contact information below:

  • I’m sure u have probably already looked into, but I’m wondering if u have contacted a medium I no it may not b something u believe n and there r so many fakes out there that claim to b one. But I no there r people that truly r gifted. Have u ever heard of Theresa the long island medium, she’s for real the people that she helps r the families of people that have already crossed over, but she is able to give messages and closure to people. Idk if this is something she would even do, but if Maddie is still alive she will not b able to connect with her, if she’s not alive she will. If anything maybe it can give ur family some type of closure. I’m sure nobody will probably bother to read my post or take it seriously but what if this one thing was able to give u some answers and u ignored it. I hope u have some kind of closure so u can maybe have some peace. I no nothing anyone can say will take ur heartache away, just no that u will c her again and at that moment u will have complete understanding. There is no sadness n heaven only joy. I hope this helps.
